Peter’s most consistent companion is Susie (Jackie Stevens) , a hooker he spends his evenings with. Their relationship serves as a bleak commentary on romantic substitutes. In Susie, Peter finds a controlled environment where he doesn't have to face the complexities of his addiction or his failing career. It’s a "romantic" storyline stripped of vulnerability, replaced by transactional comfort that ultimately leaves both characters more hollow than when they started.
