Extended dialogue sequences between Justin Lazard’s astronaut, Patrick Ross, and Mykelti Williamson’s press secretary, Gamble, as well as more scenes of Gamble investigating Patrick’s strange behavior. Review: This is where the studio interference becomes obvious. In the theatrical cut, Patrick goes from "confused astronaut" to "rampaging alien sex monster" in about ten minutes. These deleted scenes show Patrick actually struggling with his infection, trying to understand what is happening to him, and Gamble acting like a real friend rather than just a guy following a plot thread. It adds much-needed psychological depth to the horror.

Reason for deletion: Test audiences found the ending “too abstract” and “not heroic.” The studio mandated the upbeat final line (“I guess there’s hope for us all”) and Eve’s unambiguous survival as a sexy antiheroine. The molting sequence was deemed “body-horror overkill.” 11 minutes
