Aman receives acceptance from a modest international short-film program that offers a scholarship to attend a residency abroad. The offer is both a triumph and a rupture. Leaving means choices: leave Meera and the neighborhood that shaped him, or stay and continue documenting lives that will change whether he is there or not. The neighborhood arranges a farewell evening: Suraj brings a crate of cold lemonade; Fauzia sings a lullaby; Mrs. D’Souza offers an out-of-tune piano version of "Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh."
