The Power-Up Kit (PUK) specifically adds six new campaign scenarios and 30 additional story events that were not in the base game. These include: Reunification of the Han Dynasty : A special campaign featuring Emperor Xian. Fictional/Alt-History Scenarios : The PUK introduces "what if" situations, such as the Lu Bu Campaign or scenarios focusing on the internal conflicts of the Yuan family Final Battle Mode

The game ditches the "tiles" and "nodes" of previous entries for one massive, scrolling 2D map of China.
