That month Claire found herself sorting through the letters she’d written and the ones she hadn’t. She read them aloud to Luc by candlelight; they sounded like archives of selves she’d been — brave, foolish, radiant — and ones she’d yet to become. The stories in those letters braided with the calendar’s images, turning into scenes she read at the bookshop’s open-mic nights.
