Chandni Chowk To China is not just a movie; it is a journey. It represents a time when Bollywood was experimenting with global scales and crossover cinema. While the plot may be goofy and over-the-top, that is precisely its charm.
The story follows Sidhu (Akshay Kumar), a simple vegetable cutter in Delhi’s famous Chandni Chowk market. Sidhu is unhappy with his life, constantly seeking shortcuts to success and wealth, much to the dismay of his adoptive father, Dada (Mithun Chakraborty).
The narrative kicks into gear when two Chinese strangers arrive in Delhi, mistaking Sidhu for the reincarnation of an ancient Chinese war hero. Convinced by his friend Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey) that this is his destiny, Sidhu travels to their village in China, expecting to be treated like royalty. However, he soon discovers that he has been brought not to be a king, but to battle the vicious gangster Hojo (Gordon Liu).
